Suffolk County Executive Proclaims June - Myasthenia Gravis Awareness Month
Metro NY Chapter / Myasthenia Gravis Foundation of America -05-26-2005
Steve Levy, County Executive of Suffolk County issued a proclamation to the Metro NY Chapter / Myasthenia Gravis Foundation of America, proclaiming June, in the year 2005, and every year thereafter, as Myasthenia Gravis Awareness Month in Suffolk County. The proclamation was issued in an effort to make the citizens of Suffolk County aware of, and ultimately find a cure for, Myasthenia Gravis (MG).

MG is most often and acquired disorder that results in fatigable muscle weakness, made worse by activity and improved with rest. It results from an autoimmune attack against the nerve-muscle junction.

The Suffolk County MG Support Group for patients and families is held on the third Saturday of each month at 1:00 p.m. at Emma S. Clark Memorial Library, 120 Main Street, Setauket, New York. Please call 631-765-2186 or email MGSGSC@aol.com

The 2005 MG Awareness Walk is being held June 12, 2005. Wantagh Park, Wantagh, NY. Registration 9:00 a.m.. Walkers are needed. This is a free event. Please call 631-255-8623 for a registration package or visit http://mgfametrony.homestead.com/nymgmgfa.html
